External Going Down

Standing on the hill, so brave and still
Watching all the misery go by
Wasn’t long ago, you were in the swill
Of so many sheltering eyes
Stay in line, don’t stray too far
You don’t want to know the end
Of all of these new hopes to change it all
Always left twisting in the wind
What can I do, to be brand new
How does it sound, does it make you frown
Is it bright and cheery, to make you feel happy
External going down
So what is the point, to not try at all
When nothing you do matters
Only to you, will answer the call
Owing from all your ladders
Climb here and there, so many times
Get to the top of this plan
On to the next, forgetting the lines
Speaking from thinking I can
What can I do, to be brand new
How does it sound, does it make you frown
Is it bright and cheery, to make you feel happy
External going down
After awhile, too bored to stay aligned
Try the newest thing yet
It’s so ugly, no polish yet shined
Not even close to an even bet
That’s the way it is, and always will be
When looking through certain eyes
It’s a new game now, when trying to be free
And wearing another disguise
