Counting to None

The bombs have started to fall
Which wall will you crawl
Or just another shopping mall
Mockery, with a gun
Pointing in every direction
Whenever you see, your reflection
Nobody pleads, for a new direction
There’s always more than one
Throwing out, the deck of cards
Follow dreams, past the moon and Mars
The shortest steps, that seem too far
As simple, as counting to none
History books, claim the rules
That started from, the king in blue
Who conquered all, except the new
The fool in the sun
Watching worlds, spin on by
Sometimes laughing, most to cry
On the stage, live and die
Only moments that could be called fun
Throwing out, the deck of cards
Follow dreams, past the moon and Mars
The shortest steps, that seem too far
As simple, as counting to none
The modern reality, is much too close
No longer a point, to leave a note
Grab a coat, when you’re broke
Survive with what you’ve brung
Maybe a feeling or your mind
Either way, start to climb
Hear the waves, to unwind
Before, the day is done
