A Beginning, a Middle

We don’t breathe the air in
Cuz we can’t trust our neighbors
We divide without caring
Now it’s just in our nature
And we don’t understand it
So we read it in paper
They say hate is the answer
And violence, our savior
Compound our behavior
Days begin and end
Orders to defend
Tally up the dead
Wave the flag and start again
Torture for the truth
Hide it in the news
Actions are excused
With promises of greater good
They say it’s all been decided
By some heavenly order
And your god is divinest
So you kill in his honor
His word is the law now
