Soft sobbing
Loud curse
The horses pull the hearse
Dust clings to their tears
The sun disappears
Taps was played on the fife
Shadow that wants what alights
Rattles and thumps in the cart
Rhythm that echoes the heart
The children wave goodbye
You shout through the road and the town
You gather the people around
You promise to deliver them
From the greedy and black-hearted men
But those men shot him down
Still breathing
Last words
He struggles to be heard

The rain made the gravediggers grieve
The crowds too sad to believe
The mourners broke into a wail
The pallbearer stumbled and fell
The coffin hit the ground
Wood splintered
Nails flew
The box was split in two
Some went running
Others cried
There was no body inside
