Sloppy Heart

All you have to do is keep on walking
Sit beside me it’s all I can think of
You on that train on holiday
The train was hot and there you sat and melted
And when you wiped your neck I thought I felt it too
Just looking at you to the sound of a regular thud
There’s a dripping drum beat and I can hear my blood
Dropping down from my dripping vein
And I paint the ground in the warmest rain
Of my squishy heart, of my sloppy heart
Making room for the rest of you
The sky was lowest in the smoking compartment
The lake was burning as the scenery rolled past
And you shook, now I’m shaking
I know you know I know you know I see you
The seats are shrinking and our legs will touch at last
And that thought seems enough to pull my chest apart
There’s a dripping drum and I can almost smell my heart
I try my best just to keep my mind busy
The blood was pooling on a nerve behind my eyes
To turn right to your side
I read the paper and I turn the pages
They fall and land upon the seat between our thighs
And you laugh and it’s all that I can do to smile
There’s a dripping vein but I ignore it for a while
