Bluesday Night

The streetlight adjusted
Through the screen door
That rusted from the rain
That washed the welcome mat away
She didn’t lie: the locks had been changed
And I found myself talking
To the chairs we hadn’t rocked in so long
Will they ever rock in time again
Lord, how I wish they could respond
Then the rain comes falling
Reflecting our lives
Silver clouds keep rolling
There’s no real way to fight it
Bluesday night
Well I was clearly outnumbered
By the rolls of the thunderclouds
My cries are no match for the sky
