In Cabo San Lucas we lay on the beach
Eternal happiness stayed just out of reach
And we stretch our fat fingers towards something divine
A longing that lingers but stays undefined
Then the woman next to me said something so cynical
I almost fell to my knees
«Thinking too much makes you sad to no purpose,»
And sadly, I came to agree
We bought fake sombreros from a Mexican man
Who was sat on a stool at a festive blue stand
We’d grown so complacent and foolish we’d try
To change who we are by the things that we’d buy
The man right beside m said something so cynical

And slowly, I cam to agree
When I was a child I remember some ill-definined
Feelings of faith and free-floating goodwill
But as I have grown older the thing that I miss
Is the feeling that there’s meaning to any of this
