Shadows On Behalf

my anticipation was so high i couldn’t sleep
having had a dream the night before so bittersweet
when we were working hard at finding nothing that was true
i run my mind in circles trying not to think of you
reflections of that mortal face and eyes shining like stars
the very essence of your glare is never very far
restless times we knew are shadows on behalf of you
i am in the basement where we rolled around the pavement
like dancers to the boogaloo
you came into me, a spark i couldn’t see
a breeze that i can hold on to
and you rolled me round that northern plain where birds were humming free
staring at infinity
