When the Fear Subsides

We should have seen the signs, it was all so clear, now it’s too late
We pay for all the wasted years all the time we spent drowning in hate
A day will come again when the fear subsides
We’ll start a clean slate and look up to clear blue skies
This sickness has made us all insane
Everyone of us engulfed by the flames
Greed has caused us all so much pain
Now sorrow and regret are all that remains
We can’t reach a common goal
If we’re always at each other’s throats
We can’t avoid extinction of our dreams
Without a true thirst for peace
We won’t ever rise again
If we can’t leave the past behind
There has got to be change
How have we been so blind
We’re paying for things we did not do
We’re dying and there’s nothing we can do
Praying for a chance to breathe again
Yearning for a new beginning, not the end
We can’t reach a common goal
