Nothing Left

Put my faith in something that could result in nothing
Let the light bleed through; it won’t disturb my sleep
These long nights have got me feeling jaded
Have I sunk in too deep?
Look where this got me; I’m helplessly falling
An optimist at times but too scared to grow up fast
Streets seem more grey as I grow to resent them
No more to my name than a few lines about the past

I’m stuck with a price to pay
I expect too much and take what I get for granted
Living on a high but I think that we crash landed
I’m stuck with nowhere left to go
And I’ve got nothing left to show
Trace your hands over the flaws on my skin
I felt alright but this morning I caved in
Share the weight just for a moment
You’re sick of feeling restless while I’m sick of feeling hopeless
I hate the smell of smoke; the constant fear of falling
I try to feel young but I can hear my worries calling
Take a second to put it in perspective
Maybe I’m a lost cause; maybe you’d expect it
And through the mountains we push past
I just can’t shake the feeling that
We’re growing older everyday
Watching our lives just slip away
Wait for the words that pass my cheek
To burn a hole and cut you deep
I said that things would be this way
I’d break the mould we made
