I wrote a note for when you came back in the evening
I tried to pin it to your back when you were leaving
I thought your voice would be the least I ever heard
There used to be birds
You used to need me like a werewolf needs the moon
Like your mother needs a cocktail before noon
Oh every language needs an unspeakable word
There used to be birds
The birds that sing when the sky is blue
know how to sing in the nighttime too
so I suppose the know about me and you
I try to behave in case you’re watching from afar
from somewhere up there, where there used to be stars
You never used to leave a mission incomplete
