I Never Dreamed

Young man sitting on a front porch swing.
He’s a little scared, hoping she won’t see.
She smiles at him and asks,
«Do you like this dress I’m wearing?»
He says, «I never dreamed that this could be.»
I never dreamed I could get this close to heaven,
But there’s an angel standing next to me.
Life’s been good to me,
Even better than it should be and I
never dreamed that this could be.
A diamond ring then some wedding bells,
she comes down the isle so gracefully.
She smiles up at him, he takes her by the hand
He says, «I never dreamed that this could be».
Children playing in the backyard.
The years are going by, too fast it seems.
She smiles at him and asks,
«Do you like this life we’re living?»
He says, «I never dreamed that this could be.»
