Spiritual Warfare

In our time a war is raging for the souls of all mankind
The casualties are falling by the side
And so we pray, taking up the shield of faith (Eph. 6: 16, 18)
The cross of Jesus leads the way
As we keep marching on
With the sword of the Spirit
Which is the Word of God we cannot go wrong (Eph. 6: 17)
As we minister the Gospel of Christ
The word of God is living and active
And it’s sharper than a two-edge sword
It penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit
It judges the thoughts of the heart, of the heart (Heb. 4: 12)
Jesus came, not with peace but with a sword (Matt. 10: 34)
To make a man’s enemies
The members of his own house (Matt. 10: 36)
For though we live in the world
We do not wage war as the world does
We fight with weapons so divine (2 Cor. 10: 3−4)
With power to demolish strongholds
To break down arguments and pretension set
To make every thought obedient to Christ (2 Cor. 10: 4−5)
The word of God is living and active

Our fight is not against flesh and blood
But against the powers of darkness in this world of sin (Eph. 6: 12)
We’re near the end
So put on the armor of God so you can stand (Eph. 6: 13)
Enduring hardship as a soldier for Christ (2 Tim. 2: 3)
