Piece Of Hope

A dream I had some time last night
A dream that turned my brain
Of a land where children had no hunger
And men feel no pain
The questions all were answered
The truth was very plain
And I’ll go to sleep tonight and try
To dream that dream again
The men were strong and gentle
The girls were shy and warm
Couples spoke in loving words
of children to be born
Sorrow, hate and loneliness

The air was fresh and good to breathe
And peace was on the land
Now I hear the counting
Of the dead across the sea
The cry for help from people

It’s very hard to turn my back
Now that I’m awake
I’ve got to go and do my best
