I was walking down the street one day when i heard this voice say who are you
you seem so blue
so i said my name
i looked into his eyes he started to cry
so i asked why and he said.
i heard the truth was in my roots but i havent seen a tree all day
i didnt understand who was this man so i tried to ask again and he said
what about the leaves on trees with broken branches
where will they go after theyve done their dancing in the wind will they cry or

this blues so in response to this news i looked at his shoes and noticed they
were mine

misled to think that slavery was over.
