Here Lies Humanity

It’s human nature to persist, while our DNA insists
On blowing up everything on Earth
We must find a new way, our future starts today
We’ve been walking in Death’s shadow since our birth
The population has fallen from many billions to several million
In a time span of less than twenty years
So we’ll build a perfect life form, one of logic and compassion
To lead us and alleviate our fears
No way to impart our knowledge
So the next race can avoid the same fate as us
All evidence of our existence
Blows away in radioactive dust
The kings has fallen, but who will tell
Of the rise and demise of a species destined for hell
Wars fought with sticks and stones simply to survive
Gave way to assault rifles and napalm strikes
Mankind vanishing
(And now agents of humanity, it’s time to die)
As we tried to run, the city was consumed in a flash
From the poor to the elite, none received reprieve
And now our race is a black mark on the past
