In This Life

I thought my hands were tied
But I took them from behind my back
And made a thing of love you see
I made it for my enemy
Who hates because he’s full of fear
And hurts whoever so comes near
Well I took a blow and turned my cheek
For faith is that which need not speak
Can we see
That love is only one
Can we heal
The damage we have done
In this life
I know you want to find the light
I know you want to do something right
Sometimes my faith wears thin
When I see the state we’re in
When making peace is done with guns
The terror is for everyone
There is another way
There’s got to be another way
If in our hearts we all want peace
Why can it not be in our reach?
Can we see
That love is only one
Can we heal
