Going Home

Going home yesterday.
Been so long since I’ve been that way
Same old roads and same old home.
I don’t even think they knew I was gone.
There’s that river that I used to swim.
Steal the beer from my old man’s fridge.
PBR wasn’t cool back then.
Drink it now and I sit back and grin.
Time passes by and
it’s all right there?
And i find it hard to believe.
It’s been, 20 years since I, breathed that air, still the stories come rushing
back to me…
…I'm going home. Going home. Going home.
There’s that porch I got that kiss.
I waited 6 years for it.
When we were through she walked away.
Now I’m so glad that girl got away..
There’s that driveway, that pulled in a car.
Out came a girl, she fell from the stars.
How I got the courage, it blows me away.
To ask her out on that first date.
Drive by the homes of my old friends
I wonder if I’ll ever see them again.
Lights are on but they’re long gone
to the new places that they call home.
So if you’re ever down this way
you’ll see the places I’m talking about today.
But probably wont mean that much to you.
Just a porch, a river, and a driveway too.
