Midnight Crawls Out

Well I rode far away, on the dark black wave
Nothing was the same when I woke up
And I wrote out these words, as my circled on;
Sitting in my bright little corner
Midnight crawls out, one more time
I’m hiding out as the shadows climb
Early in the morning I listen to the sounds
Of people walking up and down the street
I hear a voice that sounds just like a girl I used to know
She rode a horse and lived in a hotel room

I’m hiding out as the church bells chime
Come to the window and tap on the screen
I’ll climb out and walk in the rain
The shallow waters that lap at our feet
Rise up a little every day
And then late in the night, as I’m drifting off to sleep
I picture you there on the big screen
You were riding on a train, through the desert at night
Leaning on your daddy’s shoulder
Midnight crawls out, one more time
