Me and st. hubert we were sitting on a fence / we were waitin' for
the stag to show / by the look in his eyes he had gave himself
completely / but i still had a ways to go / i didn’t know / no, i did not
know / when his cell phone rang he knew it was the bishop / but he
refused to take the call / he put himself to pasture in a land of no
reception / and it seemed like he was having a ball / he said, «i won’t
fall» / no, i will not fall / and if you are one who’s prone to brusin' like
a berry / if your eyes hold the mist like the light from a ferry / if your
ears get to burnin' from the urban grapevine / if you’re spreadin' it
as thin as a daily news headline / let it go / me and st. hubert we
were both eldest sons / both heading for a fall from grace / bending
over backwards with a compound bow / we was both addicted to the
chase / but i can’t keep up the pace / no, i can’t keep up the pace /
that low engine hum and all the white-noise conversions / that
high-energy strumin' and the sidewalk confrontations / that face
that you got out on permanent loan / that trick where you disappear
right into the drone / let it go
