Why would God’s own Son lay aside His crown,
to take the sand the feet of man and walk on common ground?
How could a King leave his throne, to be betrayed by his own?
Why did he choose so willingly to take on our humanity?
So that He’d know how it feels to be broken,
By the sin His guiltless hands would never touch,
So much more than a sacrifice, Jesus paid the highest price,
He took our shame, He bore our pain
The greatest King, loved us so much
He became the very least of us
He would have never known until His flesh revealed
What it’s like to lose a friend or how temptation feels
He would never know the sting of death until He drew His last breath
Why did He choose so willingly to take our place at Calvary?
