30 Days Without Sun

As I’ll awaken in my room
The curtain drawn, there’s sun outside
I think of her, I feel no pain
As if I didn’t hit a wall last night
Mmm
I hurt my head, must be alive
There’s music playing in the yard
Then I almost write a poem
A moth is dying on the window sill
And I inhale
I lie and wait for things to change
To lift the weight of this delirium
A picture of a cockatoo
In that fancy frame she bought before she flew with coo
Hear it roaring, watch it spin
This is where the waves begin
See it churning, hear it sing
So we let the tide roll in
I think of what I’ll do tonight
A cat is running down the corridor
A river free (?), a man insane
The silly music downstairs keeps on playing
And it’s last year’s song
Thirty days without sun
Oh, your voice is strong
It comes and goes
Echoing softly
Back and forth
And up it goes
Falling back into the poems
I almost wrote
