I met Melita in Arizona
At the clinic for alcoholics
She was doubled over
The first time I ever saw her
But I could tell by the way she held back her hair

Checked in it on credit
On the news in the room
I seen a girl I knew from the clinic
She’d killed herself and poor Phil Hartman too
It seemed her dream to be on TV was coming true
