Took a little less than 30 seconds
To realize I’ve been here before
I saw the sign, I learned my lesson well
Wrapped up in a blanket of bad excuses
I know you try but mess it up again
Another lie with good intentions
Tells me to let go
I’m releasing this patter
Shaking of what I don’t really need
Keep the good things that matter
Throw the old lucky charm to the sea
For now
Trying to make sense of the contradiction
That what I give is never what I get
A bittersweet recognition
If you won’t change I can’t make you
I read the book, it’s a waste of time
I’m done singing lullabies
so I walk away
