Now let me set the scene, me and my girl are boarding a bus from university to
where we need to be
We momentarily pause, to touch on and then walk to the back and take our seats
the driver closes the doors
The times about 4:20 and yes, you guessed its peak traffic. ..
About as high as it gets
I’ve got my shades on for when the temporary sun comes out
Before it decides to hide behind a Melbourne cloud
And it’s darker now, but I’m fine with it
My mind drifts in such an environment where I’m provided with a window to look
outside of and see the people with my own eyes and realise that I’m
disconnected from the real life of the places and things that are flashing by
I’m more connected with the satellites, than I am with my own mind
Cos I’m trapped in a world of rhymes, in a world of rhymes
No sense of time, continuously drifting in and out for a while
Until I feel a gentle nudge, I turn to my right, my girl softly
Pinches my cheeks and smiles, yeah
She knows I’m out of it, and I’m so proud of the fact that she’s never ever
Had the urge to complain about it
I’m thinking mama was right, I’m so caught up in rhymes
That I’m forgetting what’s important in life, becoming socially awkward
Not concentrating when I’m talking, I’m half here but half sleep walking
So here I go again, how I deep I get it just depends
Journey with me into my inner self
Welcome to my realm
Welcome to my realm
So as the bus keeps driving, my mind dives in
Expressing my inner intricate thoughts whenever I’m rhyming
Welcome to my realm
Yeah, Welcome to my realm
Now let me take you back
A small primary school child boards the bus with a smart phone and a wide brim
hat
I instantly flashback to being me with my back pack, got my lunch box mammas
packed snacks
A chubby kid with a cheeky grin, when the friends weren’t there I’d sit right
behind the driver and I’d speak to him
Just an innocent, immigrant that was raised in an incredible place,
yes invy is intertwined in my brain
It’ll never change, I’m thinking about everything and it’s evident that I’m
reminiscing of driving on the Bass Highway
I’d see the coast as we pull up close to the town centre
I’d see the boats and several locals as the crowd gathered
We’d pass the footy oval, cricket nets, and skatepark
The fish and chips on A’beckett Street, and The Esplanade
In a matter of minutes, we’d be out of the inlet and the
Tides of tranquility would transform to cattle farms
No such thing as traffic, I don’t see no signals either
We’d be off as quick as the buses radio receiver
But here I am again, the polar opposite, still at standstill
On the way to catch the train, I realise that it’s now raining
My girls on my right holding my hand still, yeah
She says we probably need to walk the rest if we wanna make it
So she takes us and we make our way off of the bus
We then enter the reality shower, escaping the place that takes me
Back to the past, back to the past
Welcome to my realm
Welcome to my realm
So as the bus keeps driving, my mind dives in
Expressing my inner intricate thoughts through my rhyming
Welcome to my realm
Yeah, Welcome to my realm
Yeah, Welcome to my realm
Yeah, Welcome to my realm
