Through The Fallout

I’ve only just begun to feel like I’m alive
If this is how it ends, I’ll set fire to the skies
Prayers are useless now, yet words fall from my tongue
We’re bathed in friendly fire, we’ll never know who’s wrong
One minute left to go, I’ll savour every breath
The ghosts of you and me, I’ll try and put to rest
The clock is ticking down, the battle lines are drawn
One night left in our arms, until we end this war
With seconds left I know, there will be blood tonight
We will turn to ash, if we reach the other side
The fallout fills my lungs, I stand here on my own
The winter has begun, I’m freezing in the snow
And when the smoke has cleared, maybe we will see
We had to burn it all, the ashes set us free
