Twentysomething

Twentysomething hit me just today
Right between the eyes and
Woke up with little at all to say
And a world to realize
Monday runnin' finding something new
Try to fit it all in right now
‘cause Tuesday may not see me through
and I’ve lost it all somehow
This ever-changing tide
Has left us high and dry
But we’ve got so much life to live
Before we wave this time goodbye
So there’s life after twenty-seven fades away
Still we believe in all these lies
Youth is blind and runnin' afraid
That age is the enemy line
Idealism haunts us like a ghost
In the attic of self-contempt
We’re gonna have to make it on our own
No matter how alone we get
