Billboards

The lights are shining through the windows of my building
I wake up late but I’m still tired from my sleep
I wanna go out with a sunny hallelujah
But two hours later I’m still balled up on the bed
All day long I sit in the appartment
All my life just waiting for a call
I won’t go outside 'til after midnight
I’ll just sit and watch the boring days go by
I wish I took that trip to Southern California
But now I’m here alone with no one by my side
The rain is pouring down outside as I relinquish
And I put my sweater on and walk out in the dark
I don’t love myself 'til after midnight
But when it’s twelve o' clock the girls are gone
I still have my head near California
But I’ll just sit here gazing at the billboards in the rain
