Kaleidoscopes

I remember the night, the scenes stuck in my head
Summer air was burning and I couldn’t catch my breath
I drove alone all night and spent the day in bed
And I could almost feel my lungs caving in my chest
Moving on
We talked all night long
Till the sun came up
We kept moving on
I close my eyes, in an instant I feel lost
Have I lost my mind or is my speed and timing off
I feel the wheel slipping from my hands
Deafening kaleidoscope between the sky and ground
Lights and sounds
The tires scream so loud
Now I’m upside down
Under lights and sounds
We cut through yards in the neighborhood you said
This felt more right than it ever should
You took me through the fields you use to lay
And jumped the fence to get away from here
Look around
If only time slowed down
Things wouldn’t feel so bad
