20 Days

It’s more than I hoped to find,
The day you came into my life,
We had nowhere to go,
No one to wait for us, No one to love,
A bag full of dreams,
And some hopes that we left behind,
And I saw you smiling, and my world froze,
A moment in time,
And I knew, darling,
You were mine and I was yours,
Twenty days have gone past so fast,
But we’re sure that the magic will last,
As I turn around, I promise I’ll be back,

Of this being goodbye…
And I see you smiling, on your way home,
biting your lips,
And I feel nothing will go wrong,
And I read every letter you wrote,
'Til I know them by heart,
And I keep smiling on the road,
But the mind goes on and on and blinds the heart,
And soon you know your thoughts are full of traps,
And you struggle to keep all our memories and dreams alive,
As you feel how the weight of your fears makes it all fall apart…
But I saw you smiling and our world froze,
That moment in time,
And we knew nothing would go wrong,
So I’ll keep waiting and maybe sometime, our love brings us back
So I’ll keep smiling, for now.
