midnight moonlight
as the moon began to rise in the forest one night
the spotted owls perched on their branch up high
the daddy owl said 'we ought to have ourselves a party we’ll dance by the light
of the moon'
'when the moon glows in the sky like a giant firefly
it’s our chance to dance
in the midnight moonlight'
the little owls flew above the trees to spread the word
all around the dark woods til everyone had heard

the mama owl reached for her fiddle and her bow
the daddy owl began to hoot so everyone would know the baby owl awoke and shook
out her little wings and they danced by the light of the moon
