This hollow state haunts my mind
Encaged while in motion
Trancelike bliss, yet wide awake
The lights are flickering
Can you see what lies in wait
The shadows of yesterday
The shape of the future
As the days grow shorter

As the wells runs dry
The empty roads with rusted signs
Leads into a different strife
Withholding the closures
A levee against life
The last milestone standing
Is enshrouded in a fog
One last for the forgotten black eyed dog
