Finally Home

It is my first day waking up in this new place
It is my first day waking up with this new space
It is a space where I could reach all my life’s goals
But it’s a space where I could lose all control
But the park looks really pretty and the sky is so blue
And wandering through the city is what I wanna do on this 98 degree kinda day
So I walk and learn the city blocks and tell New York that I am here to stay
I have been dreaming of this life since the dust rose
I have been dreaming of this life for as long as I know
And so I planned out every step of my 5 years
The years are gone but I planned right and I made it here
Now the park looks really pretty and the sky is so blue

Thoughts reeling out as my heart faces doubt in my mind as I think what I want,
how I get there
And all of the things that I had now are gone but they’re not, it’s just big
and it’s new and it’s scary
And all of the feelings I pushed to the side as I smiled through tears to show
my purple pride
Well they’re all coming back, all the questions and doubts, all the fears about
moving, it’s all I can do to shout:

So I walk and learn my little street, filled with people that I’ll never meet,
in a city where I’m feeling so alone
But I sit out on my fire escape and tell New York that I am finally home
