I stood up.
You stayed in your chair.
You didn’t get it,
You even looked put out.
But I had no doubt
You’d see the change
And someday do the same.
That was quite awhile ago.
The days are getting shorter
They’re expecting record lows
If you could hear me pray tonight
Would you be angry or surprised
To hear your name announced
Followed by a pause,
Or even tears
Like i’ve done for all these years

What does it take to make you see
