I’d like to thank you for the crumbs you’ve left for me
Lookin' up from the middle class
Maybe I’ll leave a few for the ones poorer than me
Terrified of a lower caste
Terrified of what’s below me
While from above you keep me down
Isn’t it strange when you can see but don’t believe?
Maybe we’re in need of new beliefs
A disgust for what’s beneath us rather than a race for what’s above

Keepin' 'em busy with two, three jobs a day
So they don’t fill the street
My time is money, I won’t give 'em either one
But medicate to help them sleep
Help them stay in our American dream
