The older I get, the more it seems
I watch my dreams get smaller
Hell, no, don’t get me wrong
I want more out of this life
Than I ever wanted
It’s just that these days, I’d settle for less
These days are second best
It’s a line that’s been drawn
I can’t tell which side I’m on

I’ve seen this coming all along
There’s hope for the best in those dog-eared pages
That still jump out of my favorite books
Though the innocence in my eyes has faded
I tell myself to take a second look
Like I’m some kind of castaway who swears he sees land
Can I see a show of hands?
