By the Water

Well it seems to me that every other day
I’ve been on my way to something
And it’s been a while since I took the time
To slow down and get a little sun i can’t lie
I think I’m losing mind
And it seems to me that it’s been too long
Since I threw that board in the back
Drove a couple hours down to center st
Laid that board in the water
Let that sun welcome my heart back home
I was made to live by the water
Barefoot stepping on sand
Laid back sipping a corona
Watching the waves roll in
Ohh the way it fits, licking that salt air off of my lips
I was made to live by the water
I was made to live like this
I got nothing against the big city limits
Lord knows I was raised inside them
But there’s something about this little sandy town
That keeps my heart in the Carolinas
Just feels wrong, if I’ve been gone too long
I don’t know if I’ll ever get to where I’m supposed to be
But it damn sure ain’t gonna be today
So I’m throwing down my cash into a tank of gasoline
Keep it in drive till I see that sky kiss the waves
