I swear I was born as a selkie
But my skin slipped away while I swam
Bonding me to these bones and this body
So helplessly tied to the land
Still my soul was stuck in the seafoam
My surf-riding eyes would not change
Though sandcastles crumble before me
My spirit remains
I spend my life bound to the boundaries
Janus’s desolate child
I was there on the shore when you found me
You caught my bird-heart with your mind

Wd the sea and take its name
The sirens are calling me homeward
