Band of Color

I passed beneath a band of color and i saw you overhead
I understood your lips were moving but i couldn’t hear what you said
Then a light shined down. It illuminated my way
When it faded in time it left me to see shades of gray
Waiting to see color again some day
Then i called up to you to ask if i tire could i rest on your shoulder
If the colors that i see fade will you help to make them bolder
Will your hand reach through the haze to pull me from a pale world
rolling to its grave
So if you have to leave will you return to hold my hand
When it’s time to cross the line between our land?
