Half-Hearted

I wouldn’t know rock bottom
If it hit me in the face
I keep on digging deeper
But I’m still in the same place
Some would say an optimist
With something left to share
I would say I’ve always been here
And I just never cared
I will keep fighting and
I will keep trying
If only with half a heart
Living this way is
Better than dying
Even if I can’t tell them apart
My mind may waver but
I still repeat the line
Making the same mistakes
A process I refine
There’s no way to keep from
Doing the same thing
The only difference
How weak my reasoning
I mourn a child I’ve never met
And who likely never was
But when you give something a name
There’s so much that it could cause
I hope this is the one
That puts me over the edge
Finding the bottom pit
Is just another ledge
