there was a time i thought i knew
i would always be here with you
night spent in summer watching the waves
making memories we’d save
sleeping underneath all the stars
dreaming of a world that is ours
sure as the daylight comes with the dawn
i thought our love would carry on
i never thought there’d come a day
when all our love would fade away
and so i gave my heart to you
and all my dreams came true
as time went by it became clear
that you would not always be near
and as the summer turned into fall
