Skin Deep

God’s little angel, a parents' shining star
Secretly crying with an open heart
Red marks up and down her arm
Every mother’s fear, her child in harm
That little girl, she’s so beautiful
What made her think her life was pitiful?
And I hear her crying, she wants to end her life
But she’s so beautiful, her beauty shines so bright
Still I hear her crying late into the night
But how am I to know what’s wrong or right?
People say that beauty is only skin deep
So she cuts herself while they’re fast asleep

But the pain inside won’t pass
Did you think the blood would make it go away?
But the guilt inside still remains
