I haven’t dreamed in years
Futures were diverted
This ringing in the ears
Driving home the verdict
My life came to a crossroads
An instance of decision
I never gave a thought to losing everything to the crawl
Bereft of meaning, the semblance of heart fades away
So self defeating, I give into the mundane
I find myself gazing into grain and wine
On this fine thick cut of pine
I feel silence claim my weary mind
This is where I’m left behind
The game has long been lost
Prospects are deserted
Continue with the cost
Money has no burden
It loses weight when I am swimming in dependence
Bring me up while I am ever slowing down to the crawl
