Little by little
You come back to haunt me
Ever so brittle
Is this awful memory
I feel your eyes closing behind me
Slamming shut as
You drift away

I go flying
Out through the windshield
Across the road
On to the wilted fields
I think to myself
Is this all that I can be
As I lie in the lee
Of the chestnut tree
Little by little
The sidewalk fills with your blood
Ever so brittle
You are engulfed by the flood
And as you drift
In your ship of broken glass
I watch you disappear
Through the underpass
