Boy With No Shadow

Everywhere he’d go his shadow would follow
He tried to hide within the light
But his shadow did follow
He walked up to his mother
His shadow did follow
He told her he was frightened
His shadow did follow
All night long he’d try to cry himself to sleep
But the shadow would whisper and scratch at his toes
No one would believe his shadow was evil
Swinging from the midnight trees
His shadow did follow
Climbing though the window
His shadow did follow
Crawling underneath his bed
His shadow did follow
All night long he’d try to cry himself to sleep
But the shadow would whisper and scratch at his toes
Never did he speak to the shadow that followed
It told him of such awful things
His shadow that followed
At last he grew so sick
Of his shadow that followed
He begged it to just go away
And strangely it listened
