Granite

I recall not long ago
When you belonged to me
But winds of change
Came blowing in
And stole you in their breeze
You look the same as the boy that I kissed
But I don’t recognize your touch
I’d hate to think he no longer exists
'Cause I loved him so very much
I’ll have a funeral
Even though your heart beats
I’ll bury the pieces
Far underneath the grass and trees
Below all the grass and trees
I will not come visit you
So’s not to draw a tear
But winds of change will steal me too
And whisper in my ear
Maybe someday I won’t have to pretend
I don’t feel the chill of a rush
When I catch a glimpse of the boy from back then
How I loved him so very much
But I had his funeral
Even though his blood flows
I carved a stone of granite
And planted it where the flowers grow
Where all of the flowers grow
