I spent my life preparing for this
Hope for the best, expect the worst

Or at least I hope it will
Because I am the altered state
Of a broken window sill
You can probably see straight through me
But I’m dangerous to the touch
I gave the world everything but I wasn’t given much
I spent my life preparing for this
Hope for the best it can’t get worse
I watched my world come crashing down
I know I can rebuild
I shelled out my mind so you could read my thoughts
Exposing gaping holes in my memoir’s plots
Well versed in scholary apathy
I scoff when you laugh so happily
I will be here after the damage!
The truth is I’ve got emptiness
Where I used to get my fulfillment
Starting over is never easy
But I’ve got my friends
My God
And my family
