When we were new
We spoke in words both reverent and crude
We drank up the joy of feeling confused
And I knew
Then we grew
Laughing at all of the pain we’d been through
We took our bitterness and sang it a tune
And I was a joke, was a fluke
But now there’s nothing more to say
We shuffle our feet and we look away
