When the Sun Drops Like an Anvil

I’ve been counting down the calendar’s months and
Trying to breathe in all four seasons at once and then exhale them as
Tidal waves and cold and warm fronts while I paint your shores with snow
I’ve been taking comfort in songs I’ve heard and
Trying to reach you with the warmth of my words, they’re spilling out
On pages and the ink becomes blurred but there’s one thing we know
Time will stop and stand still when the Sun drops like an anvil falling down
Red comets rain from the sky like fireworks on the fourth of July

Trying to see you in LCD displays and flashing lights while
Building you a tiny glass maze that you could keep within your palm
We see a world unfold within your reflection
You twist time, mangle minds and play with perception and we
Send thoughts back and forth through rusty connections and gently break the calm
