Out of the shadow and into the light
Of a candle it flies
And down to the pillow where your head still lies
To the window and into the night
And then you are awoken and you cry

Your will is broken, so you swallow your pride
And go down to the meadow
Where the grass grows high
A crescendo of life
And the whispers of a willow
As it passes by
And fades into a silhouette amidst a starless sky
She’d love to be mistaken and she’ll try

She’ll be shallow and trite
And I’ve got something shaking in my throat
And in the corner of my eye
But my mind is vacant

So out goes the candle
